My Son Who Has ADHD Becomes Violent, Depressed, & Has Anger Problems; Any Advice?

Q: My son has been diagnosed with AD/HD about 5 years ago.  As he has gotten older everything they put him on had a side effect.  And we have had to put him on more meds just to counter react the effects of the other drugs.  He has become violent, depressed and has a sever anger problem.  We said enough no more! We want our son back.  Any advice?

Thanks,

DJ

A: Your son sounds like our son many years ago minus the anger issues. When a parent tells me their ADD/ADHD child can instantly become angry or aggressive with them or other children, I will often ask them if they have had their child’s cortisol level checked. Every time you are stressed, cortisol (stress hormone that’s released by your adrenal glands) is dumped into your body. Over a long period of time stress can destroy nerve connections and neurons affecting short-term memory. ADD/ADHD have a high level of frustration because of the constant stress they are put under. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, stress and depression are closely linked. Stress doesn’t just affect your mind psychologically but your body as well. In The Journal of Autisms and Developmental Disorders say that ADHD children have abnormal levels of cortisol. High amounts of cortisol can cause problems in metabolizing carbohydrates, protein, and fats affecting their ability to concentrate. And Yale researchers have confirmed that children with ADD have a problem in metabolizing glucose. In my opinion, if my child was constantly stressed, easily angered, or depressed I would so have his cortisol level tested by salivary hormone analysis done by a doctor or on-line.. There are many 100% herbal formulas that come in capsules or liquid form that you can take with juice that will help balance healthy cortisol hormone levels. Plus adaptogenic herbs such as ginseng, ginkgo boloba, or rhodiola (which is our favorite) will also naturally help with stress. Biometics AM/PM program will also help with balancing his cortisol levels too. You will need to contract Rae Ann if you any questions about prices or programs for Biometics hayneskr@cox.net. She has had adrenal and cortisol issues that she currently balances with natural remedies and vitamin supplements. And her son has ADD and is med free.

Second, try to keep in mind that a child’s liver, especially when their organs have not properly developed, is not meant to filter an addictive control substance long term. And I do not care if a doctor says differently! I had my son on meds for 2 1/2 yrs. I KNOW personally most of the side effects that are associated with ADHD meds. The longer a child stays on those meds, the worst the side effects become and more meds are called in to neutralize side effects from the previous medications. And before long, you have a young child on 3-5 different meds. Plus these meds throw the body and brain chemistry totally off balance!!! I would go through the 6 steps I listed on my Natural Remedies page. You don’t have to do them all at once or in the same order. It is there as a guide to give you a starting point. The goal is to remove the toxin burden and maximize their nutrient intake (such as high quality vitamin supplements). It will take some time to get your child’s chemistry back in check. Do not give up! I’m here as living proof that you CAN manage ADHD without medication….but it will take commitment and consistency on your part.

P.S Aggresive behavior is a warning sign that indicates low serotonin production in the brain.

Why Are ADHD Deficient in Their Minerals: Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc?

Q: You mention in your blogs that ADHD are highly deficient in their minerals (zinc, calcium, and magnesium). Why are they so deficient? You also mention that your son started off with 2 serving of Cal/Mag twice a day. Does he not take that amount anymore? If not, when did you know to cut back his serving size?

Carol

A: ADHD are deficient in their minerals because of their inability to properly digest food and absorb nutrients. Poor diet is also a factor. We worked up to 2 servings (2 scoops) of Cal/Mag a day. Lucky for us, it only took a week. We gave Charlie 1 serving (1 scoop) after breakfast to keep him calm during school. But by the time the got home from school he had already burned off his B vitamins and cal/mag. So we would have to give him a small serving after school. Depending on how hyped up he was, we would give him either 1/4 to 1/2 scoop. When it was time for him to go to bed, I’d give him another 1/2 scoop. It really depends on what’s best for them. And I found that this is what worked best for Charlie. Biometics Cal/Mag is PERFECT for ADD/ADHD. This product is a calcium citrate form which absorbs 2.5 times faster than calcium carbonate. One scoop not only has 1000mg of calcium and 300mg of magnesium but it also contains zinc (15mg), vitamin C (60mg), vitamin A (beta carotene 2000IU), and vitamin D (200 IU). Having this combination of vitamins and minerals not only ensures that you absorb all the calcium but that that your body holds on to it. Without vitamin D or magnesium, calcium would just pass right through your body. It be more like a “drive by.”

Be careful when you start out on this product. The citrate form can make your stomach bubbly if you do not have the proper amount of good bacteria in your gut. If you do not ease into a full serving, you may end up with diarrhea. So always start out SLOWLY and on a FULL stomach. The goal was to keep Charlie on 2 servings of cal/mag a day until his hyperactivity seized. Although Cal/Mag offered pleasing results, it did not stop him from being fidgety. However, once he finished his heavy metal cleanse, we found that we were able to drop him down 1 serving (1 scoop) size of cal/mag (before bed).

What’s A Good Protein Product To Give My Son With ADHD?

Q: What’s A Good Protein Product To Give My Son With ADHD?

Lauren

A: Most ADHD children are athletes so this is a very good question that I have been dying to answer! I do not know why haven’t blog about this sooner. I use a unique amino acid supplement called PeptoPro from Protein Factory. Often times teen athletes are told by their coaches to start on 40g or more of either a protein drink or bar 3-4 times day to “Bulk” up. I adamantly disagree!! For one thing those drinks and bars are loaded with sugar and have artificial color, flavor, and preservatives which is horrible for ADD/ADHD. Children and teenagers have no business taking in that large amount of protein. Their organs are still developing and that amount of protein is very hard on their kidneys and other organs. Plus I was told by a Biochemist that teaches at University of North Carolina that your body can only process 17-20g of protein at a time. However, I do agree with the the masses in the body building world that an individual wanting to achieve LARGE body mass should consume protein every 2-3 hrs.

So why does an individual need to drink or eat all that protein? Because in order for your body to build muscle mass it has to break down the protein first and convert it to amino acids. PeptoPro allows your body to skip the process of breaking down protein and provides you with “water soluble” amino acids. This is the first amino acid product of it’s kind out there today. Other amino acids are not water soluble. Being water soluble makes the protein more digestible because they are quickly taken up by the gut and are released into your bloodstream WITHOUT digestion (just like Biometics). It totally bypasses the exhausting burden that your body must go through to digest protein. As soon as I read “water soluble” I ordered this product. The whole reason why I’m so in love with Biometics Liquid Supplements line is because of their patent process that converts all fat soluble vitamins to water soluble allowing your body to absorb your supplements quickly and also lets you flush out what your body doesn’t use.

If you have more question, just call the company. That’s what I did and they transferred me to some guy (Alex) that was more than willing to answer any of my questions or concerns. I asked him how much should my entire family take. He said 1 tsp 2-3 times daily. He said friends of his that were body builders take 3 tsp (1 tbsp) total a day. He said he also gives this to his son just because it’s good for him. Because PeptoPro is the BEST mixing protein EVER it will actually turn clear when mixed in water and mixes up so quickly. He gives 1 tsp to his son in his favorite juice once a day. Also this product can be used before work out, during work out, and after work out. Take PeptoPro on an empty stomach. If you eat food especially protein before taking PeptoPro, your body will have to focus on breaking down the protein first before it can absorb the amino acids. You should wait about 20-30 mins before you eat.

You can mix this stuff right up in your Biometics AM drink or right before bed in your Cal/Mag after it stops fizzing. Ooor you can make a protein shake with it. For example, if Charlie wants a shake he will pour 6-8ozs of either unsweetened coconut milk, soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, etc into his Bullet (Target). He will add less than 1/8 tsp of “Pure”Stevia Extract powder http://nunaturals.com/product/46. Because this stuff is “Pure it’s extremely powerful!!!! A bottle will last you FOREVER. He will sometimes add 1 tbsp of organic peanut butter. Mix all this up in your bullet for 30 secs. It’s soooo delicious. If he’s feelin like his taste buds want chocolate flavoring, he will add anywhere from 1 tsp to 1/2 tbsp of Chatfield’s Carob & Compliments Powder (No chocolate, cocoa, or caffeine).

Should You Only Test For Heavy Metals With ADD & Food Allergies With ADHD?

Q: I read one of your old blogs that mentioned ADD should be tested for heavy metals and ADHD for food allergies. Does that mean I shouldn’t have my daughter tested for food allergies too?

Taylor

A:  Too many times children who DO NOT have ADD/ADHD but mimic those symptoms are quickly put on medication because parents are told that this is their only option. The reason I wrote ADD-heavy metals and ADHD-food allergies are because they both mimic ADD/ADHD symptoms. BUT that’s not to say that food allergies do not mimic ADD or heavy metals mimic ADHD symptoms. In my personal experience I have found it more common the other way around. For a child that actually DOES have ADD/ADHD, then food allergies, yeast overgrowth, heavy metals toxicity, deficiency in DHA, etc will only compound their problem. You will have to regain a balance with their body and brain chemistry by removing toxins (cleanses, eating organic, pulling artificial crap from diet) and maximizing nutrients (HIGH quality supplements).

If it’s food allergies, your child will make a quick recovery (within a week). If it’s heavy metals, well that could take much longer (6-12 mons or more). I suggest taking a natural chelator (chlorella or zeolites) and also clay baths for maximum results. I have listed my recommendation on my website. Also keep in mind that yeast overgrowth (which is probably the #1 mimicker of ADD/ADHD) can be a side effect of both food allergies and heavy metal build up. So you will need to do a cleanse for that too.

In my opinion, take both tests!

What Are Healthy Snacks For ADD/ADHD Who Have Yeast Overgrowth?

Q: Since you always say that yeast overgrowth is common with ADD/ADHD, I talk to my DR and she is going put my son on a fungal cleanse. Right now she has him taking some antifungal product and probiotics that she has recommended. I was wondering what are some healthy snacks you send to school with your son? I find that cutting sugar out of my son’s diet is impossible! But I’m trying :).

Lizza

A: You only have to cut sugar out when you are doing a yeast/fungus cleanse for about 3-4 weeks. The point of the cleanse is to kill the yeast/fungus by starving them from their unusual supply of food (sugar, refined carbs, processed and junk food). Yeast overgrowth is so common with ADD/ADHD. It is also one of the #1 mimickers of ADD/ADHD.  Many adults and children find that after a yeast/fungal cleanse they no longer have mood issues and problems with memory or concentration. Food allergies, heavy metal toxicity, poor diet, over use of antibiotics or prescription meds (ADD/ADHD meds, steroids, birth control, antacids, etc) all contribute to yeast domination. Charlie seems to have a sensitivity to sugar. Even after a cleanse if he eats high amounts of sugar (especially refined sugars) it doesn’t take much for the fungus to proliferate again. Because of this it definitely makes searching for healthy snacks extremely difficult. His Biometics AM drink already has over 50g of sugar in it. Even though it’s a healthy sugar that is time released through out the day, starting the day out at that high of a number makes me have to work extra hard at finding snacks that are low in GOOD sugars. You are always going to have yeast in your body. But the ratio should be 15% yeast and 85% good flora. As long as I can keep the good sugars down to less than 100g a day, the balance of good flora in his gut is maintained at that ratio. But also keep in mind, he will take a probiotic first thing in the morning with his Biometics AM drink which ensures that the good bacteria flourishes and is established early on in the day. Next we always cook with extra virgin cold pressed organic coconut oil, which yeast and bad bacteria absolutely hate. And last, we juice in our vitamix one veggie drink after school that has one organic clove (we always select a nice big clove, not a skimpy one) per person in it….which fungus and parasites totally hates! Garlic is a natural antibiotic. I believe the correct saying is “A garlic clove and probiotic a day, will keep the doctor away!” Plus cheating on bad foods and dessert once on the weekend doesn’t affect the balance of Charlie’s natural flora because we have establish a healthy routine all week that allows his good bacteria to thrive. Depending how bad we cheat when we go out to eat, Charlie will sit in our infrared sauna or take a clay bath the next day. But we ALWAYS take a digestive enzyme when we eat out.

My two favorite places to shop on line are www.vitacost.com and www.VitaminShoppe.com. However Vitacost does seem to have the better savings but there are certain products that I can not buy on vitacost that I can only get at vitamin shoppe. I’m always on the prowl for healthy snacks. I bought a dehydrator but can’t seem to master the protein bar recipes. I think I need to take some kind of class or something. A dehydrator will allow you to make the BEST snacks such as your own organic trail mixes, flax crackers, and even veggie burgers. For some freaking reason I can’t seem to get pass the recipes for fruit roll ups and dehydrated fruits, which are all way to high in sugar for Charlie to eat everyday.

Favorite Health Bar

1. Organic Hempseed Bar (5g Sugar 9g Protein and 5g Fiber)

This is if I may say, a bad ass little bar. Low in good sugars but still high is protein (stabilize blood sugar) and fiber (binds to toxins & keep you regular) as well which are both important for ADD/ADHD. Forget about the fat content. The fats in this bar are the good fats. It contains a perfect balance of omega-3, omega 6, and GLA. Ingredients for this bar are: sunflower seeds, honey, shelled hempseeds, flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds. How simple is that?? A light bar that is o so good for you. Charlie takes one bar with him for lunch everyday. A box of 24 will run around $33.74 at vitaminshoppe. Nutiva donates 1% of all sales to exemplary organizations that support and promote sustainable agriculture. So far they have donated over $30,000. It was also one of the first food companies to place Non-GMO (Genetically Modified) symbol on their labels.

** KIND Healthy Snacks

This health bar is our “cheat bars.” They are not bars that we would eat daily. These are handmade bars made with all natural ingredients and premium nuts (almonds, Brazilian nuts, etc) that are all naturally dried and held together with honey. These bars are just so yummy without compromising your health. These bars are made by Peace Works which is a non profit company who seeks to foster peace through business. Our favorite bars are Kind Bar Sesame & Peanuts with Chocolate (15g Sugar, 6g Protein, and 15g Fat) and  Kind Fruit Nut Bars Almond & Coconut (11g Sugar, 4g Protein, and 14g Fat). These bars are a bit heavy but sill a good all natural product that supports a good cause. When Charlie takes these bars with him other kids are always begging him for a bite. They are delicious! A box of 8 will cost $14.99 at VitaminShoppe.

Difference Between Fruits and Vegetables for ADD/ADHD

Q: We have began making the proper dietary changes in our diet. In the morning I will cut up bananas and apples with my son’s oatmeal (organic). When he gets home from school he will eat more pre-cut fruits; apples, grapes, strawberries- all organic :) that I keep a Tupperware of it in our refrigerator. It’s been hard getting him to eat veggies. He will eat green beans or a romaine salad with ranch dressing sometimes. I will try to increase his veggies. Any advice?

Angela

A: The first time we changed our diet to more fruits and veggies, I didn’t really notice much of a difference in our bodies. However, when I pulled the bad stuff (MSG, artificial colors, dyes, preservatives, HCFS, etc) we saw immediate changes within the first week. We did notice one thing from eating more fruits and veggies, we all began having regular daily bowel movements (sometimes 2-3 times a day). It would take many more months down this road before I finally understood the importance of living foods and enzymes, over cooked veggies, and eating more fruits IS NOT the same as eating veggies.

Difference Between Fruits and Vegetables

1. At least 60% of food intake should come from vegetables, roots and tubers, FRESH herbs, baby greens, salad greens, and the most important veggie of them all…..sprouts.

2. Less than 15% of your food intake should come from fruits.

3. Next, you need to know the difference between fruits and vegetables. For instance, Did you know that tomatoes and celery are classified as a fruit? A very helpful site for me that you should check out:  http://www.greenforlife.com/.

4. Also, Did you know that you shouldn’t eat fruit mixed with other veggies, carbs, or meats? The sugars and acid in fruits slow down the digestion of the carbohydrates causing them to ferment and spoil in your belly resulting in bloating and gas. When you do eat fruit, you should eat it by itself. It only takes 15mins to 30 mins to digest.

5. Did you know that fruit is VERRRY high in sugar? Which is something that ADD/ADHD need to avoid especially in their first month down the natural remedy’s path. Once their body is cleansed of yeast/fungus then you can start introducing good sugars (in moderation) back into their diet. NOTE: Any fruit that ends in “berries” are always good for your kidneys.

6. Living food IS NOT the same as cooked veggies. Once food is cooked above 115 F many important nutrients and enzymes are destroyed. Living foods are chlorophyll and enzyme rich and this is what takes the burden off a toxic overloaded system and allow your body to begin to heal. If your cooking the green beans over this temp then at this point your really only eating it for it’s fiber content. Try to do your best to steam, dehydrate, or eat more raw veggies. Some veggies are better on your digestive system such as carrots when cooked but for the most part try to eat raw when possible.

7. And last, sprouts have the MOST amazing nutritional value (broccoli sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, etc)! Because they contain the highest level of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, they are considered  to be one of the MOST PERFECT FOODS known to mankind! For instance, mung bean sprouts have 25% more protein than  a T-bone steak. Sprouts are easy to grow at your home and will help on cost even growning orgainc seeds ;). You can always top sprouts on any sandwich or you mix them in a smoothie.

My Advice:

1. Look into whole foods such as barley grass, wheat grass, chlorella, spirulina, bee pollen, etc. and begin making green smoothies. To help with cost, take a powder form during the week and on the weekends juice the real thing. For example: We take organic wheat grass powder Mon-Thurs. Friday is our day off. On Sat and Sun we juice real organic wheat grass in our vita mix.

2. Purchase a vita mix www.vitamix.com. I’m telling you that this will be one of your best investment on your journey. Go to their site and check out their videos. I can tell you that we can not eat fennel, beets, or radishes but we sure can drink it! If you can create a veggie drink of your choice that only takes a few mins, this will be a lot easier on you getting your child to cooperate and it will open the door to endless selections of vegetables that he would not normally touch.

Corn A Major Food/Brain Allergy for ADD/ADHD

This is a comment that was sent to me and I’m so excited to post this on my blog:

I was diagnosed with A.D.D. (A.D.H.D) when I was 6 in 1984. About a decade ago I tried a self directed elimination diet after I had returned from living in Europe: where my symptoms of hyperactivity had completely disappeared. It took me 5 years, but I finally realized that I was allergic to CORN, including HFCS, corn syrup and all the other 1,200 derivatives of corn that are in 80% of our US foods. This allergy triggered my A.D.H.D. I felt good in Europe (and since in Canada) because they use wheat not corn in most their traditional foods. It took me so long to figure this out in the US, because in the ingredient lists of most products corn can be called, gluten, dextrose, and is used to make food coloring and food additives…etc.. etc..

The other interesting parallel that I discovered is that after the US initiated its trade embargo with Cuba in the mid-70s our supply of cheap cane sugar was cut-off and manufacturers had to find another source of sweetener. It was at this point that the corn suppliers stepped in and corn has been a major additive of our foods since. This addition of corn to our foods in non-traditional ways parallels exactly the increase in diagnosis of disruptive children with A.D.H.D. in the late 70s and early 80s. So my advice to people with A.D.H.D, take a week off corn (and A.D.H.D. medications)… Make your own food from scratch and just see if this makes a difference in your life. I can feel the difference with in 2 or 3 days.

Good references for learning about corn in US food are the book “The Omnivores Dilemma” and the new documentary “King Corn”.

Jason

I’m so glad Jason shared his personal experience and knowledge with me! It pains me to see children as young as 3 years old being put on ADD/ADHD medication when most of these children could have taken a $150 Food Allergy Test or do a Heavy Metal cleanse. I feel like a broken record when I mention in most of my blogs or e-mails that if you are a parent of a child that may have ADD/ADHD please go take:

1. Heavy Metal Test

2. Neurotransmitter Test

3. Fatty Acid Test

4. Food Allergy Test

5. Intracellular Test (optional)

These are the FIRST steps I would have taken had I known about these tests. Do you think ADD/ADHD medication cure the root of your problem? By taking these tests you begin to indentify the core of the problem versus treating the symptoms. As you can see Jason testimony is a great example of how food allergies contribute to hyperactivity. Like Jason we did an elimination diet too because like I said we were unaware of this test. This is a method of removing specific foods or chemicals from your diet for a specific period of time before reintroducing them and noting the effects in a journal or diary. Charlie’s kryptonite are dairy and especially artifical chemicals (MSG, and artificial colors, dyes, and preservatives). Not one single family practitioner, pediatrician, or psychiatrist mention this option to us. Instead they were all adamant that ADD/ADHD medication was the only option that would work. These test would have shaved off a year of trail and error for us.

Here’s a great example of finding the “Root” of the problem: My husband’s client was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome about 10 years ago. Her health was getting worse and worse as time went on. I had mention many times go get a Food Allergy Test done. But she was someone that believed whatever her doctor told her to do and an food allergy test sounded silly to him. But one day she was at the Health Store and they had a licensed pharmacist on staff that had a Bio-Feedback machine. She took this as a sign and decided to take this test. She sat for 1 hr with her hands on these hand-shaped things that are attached to the computer. It tells you what your levels are and your sensitivities to food. Mold and corn were her kryptonite. So she went home and pulled ANYTHING corn out of her diet. And then she realized what I had been telling her for months, HFCS is in everything. Like Jason within 3 days of eliminating corn from her diet, her fatigue was nearly gone.

Food/brain allergies have different affects on different individuals. Some individual can become hyperactive or depressed. Jason mention that ”corn can be used for food coloring and food additives.” Great point and another reason why you must also pull the artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives from your diet. Another major point that stood out about my husband’s client Bio-feed back results, was her sensitivity to mold as well. Rae Ann (Biometics Distributor) had mention to me about a book called “The Fungal Link by Doug Kaufman.” http://www.know-the-cause.com/Shows/tabid/54/Default.aspx Kaugman talks about how corn and peanuts get moldy because of the way they are grown and stored. So when someone has a sensitivity to corn products, they are also having problems with the mold in the corn too. Food allergies will lead to yeast overgrowth and constant inflammation. This overgrowth will develop into fungus and mold causing chaos in your brain and body chemistry. This is a must read book!!!

Why Is ADD More Common With Girls?

Q: Why are more boys diagnosis with ADHD than girls? I’ve heard it’s because girls can control it better than boys since they are more disruptive.

Darla

A: In the book “The Brain Wellness Plan” by Dr.Jay Lombard (Board Certified Neurologist) and Carl Germano, RD, CNS, LDN says that norepinephrine is responsible for coaching the brain into paying attention. Inadequate levels of this neurotransmitters will cause inattentiveness in both ADD/ADHD. But the hyperactivity in ADHD is a result of inappropriate levels of dopamine. Girls are more likely to have ADD because their estrogen inhibits or prevents the reception of dopamine by neurons.

Pretty interesting, huh? And let’s not forget girl’s brain mature faster than boys too. A few years ago I was in the book store taking notes in the health selection. I don’t just gravitate to ADD/ADHD books when I’m doing research. I’ll also skim through books about the brain, pH, digestion, Candida, omegas, cleanses/fasting, or eating for your blood type. Good thing because I have often wondered the answer to that question. I couldn’t find a scientific answer on the internet or in other ADD/ADHD books. I got pretty much the same info you came across.

Do Clay Baths Make Children Sick?

Q: I was considering ordering the clay bath, but was told by my doctor not to because too many children get sick from this choice of natural remedy. What are your thoughts?

Lori

A: Clay baths are highly recommend by both Naturopath and Holistic practitioner. To be honest when it comes to nutrition I prefer their opinion versus the opinions of a pediatrician, family practitioner, or psychiatrist. Remember that physicians only have 1 semester of nutrition during their years of school to become a doctor. Personally I LOVE clay baths and I highly recommend them especially since ADD/ADHD do not detoxify well and normally test positive for heavy metals. When I first research heavy metal cleanses, I realized that this cleanse could take more than a year to do and was very very very expense! So I started researching natural ways to detox. I found that zeolite and bentonite clay were both negative ions. This means that the negative ions will draw out the positive ions (toxins) like a magnet and they will lock together in a bear hug. Regular Chelation therapy which are recommended by physicians, doesn’t have a strong bond with heavy metals. So they are more likely to hold hand when they come together. And if they should bump into other things in the body or are draw out too quickly, they are more likely to let go of each other’s grip resulting in an extremely dangerous situation. This is why Chelation therapy requires a long period of time to accomplish. I did zeolite orally and bentonite clay externally for Charlie’s detox. Most individuals do not see results until 6 months or longer with chelation therapy. We however had results within 3-4 weeks.

I did do my research and I love the company I recommended on my website for clay baths. It’s an easy site to navigate and very educational too. Their clay is 100% pure, no fillers, free of mold or yeast, and is USP purified (So keep all of this in mind before purchasing clay baths at health store or on-line.) I also love how this site offers you a heavy metal test, which is only an additional $15 and you can get immediate results at home. Although I have to admit I feel that a hair analysis test for heavy metals which is sent off to a lab is my first choice because it’s more accurate. But it can be pricey and will take weeks before you get your results.

Some tips that will help; if you or your child is on medication it is recommended that you do not give medication prior to bath. Not only does the clay baths draw out heavy metals but street drugs, prescription drugs, preservatives, insectides, etc…This is probably why your doctor said to stay away from clay baths. If a child or an adult are taking more than one prescription drug or have chronic health problems with a history of long term drug use, this will stimulate a healing crisis during their bath. Which means too many toxins are pulled out into the bloodstream causing an individual to have nausea, flu-like symptoms, and lethargy. In some cases even vomiting. So for these individuals start with a foot clay bath first for the first week or longer. And follow the directions for clay baths to the “T.” I don’t care if you think the water is warm enough, go get your thermometer and get the water to the exact temp it recommends and do not exceed the time recommended in bath either. If you do all of this you will have a positive experience. This site even offers a drink filled with electrolytes, minerals, and micronutrients that you should drink after your clay bath to replenish what you may have lost during your bath. The individuals who get sick, are the ones who do not follow the directions.

FYI: Powerade or Gatorades do replenish electrolytes but are sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Try to find another alterative if your not going to order the drink from their website. Any mult-vitamin, mineral, and electrolyte drink will do. Charlie and I first did their electrolyte drink but now we both just take 1 tbsp of Bio Fuel. We also continue to take clay baths. I say probably every 2-3 mon we will take a clay bath once a week for a month for maintenance. And everything Charlie does, I do with him. He’s never tried a natural remedy without me or my husband doing it along with him. This allows us to help explain to him the changes that his body is going through.

Are all of Biometics supplements for ADD/ADHD Micellized?

Q: ‘I want to know if all the ADHD supplements come in a liquid form?? And are all of the vitamins and supplements Micellized?

Amanda

A: The program for ADD/ADHD is the AM/PM program and if money is not an issue I also recommend that you get Cell Care (contains Super Antioxidants and Co Q 10). Get-go-n and Cal/Mag come in a can and are powdered forms. Either are micelled. However Get-go-n uses 80mg of caffeine which as a vehicle to quickly shoot the B vitamins and Tyrosine into your body. Individuals usually feel it within 15-20mins. The caffeine is a very small dosage and is quickly burned off by the time it arrives at your adrenal glands. All of the other liquid supplements are micelled except Bio Alert because everything in that product is water soluble. Micelled is when you convert the fat soluble to water soluble and break it down to a thousand of its usual size. This is why these vitamins are absorb before they make it to your digestive tract. Cal/Mag uses a citrate form to increase absorption by 3.5 times versus other carbonate forms.

Biometics also uses both plant based and some synthetic vitamins to ensure product quality throughout manufacturing. Basically, when food products are processed for vitamins the quantities of nutrients vary, simply because in nature the content of vitamins in a food varies from one plant to the next. It all depends on soil, water sources, climate, etc. This all means that natural sources of vitamins can result in batches of product varying a degree that is unacceptable - the product could end up with one batch high in B-vitamins and the next batch has almost none. Therefore, synthetic is the optimal choice to ensure each batch is the same. However, it’s not accurate to say that all the vitamins in the Biometics products are synthetic. As a small example, the Vitamin C they use is USP grade Ascorbic Acid that is initially derived from vegetables sources and then partially synthesized. By denoting “folate” in their products versus ”folic acid” means that they use the natural form of folic acid- folate is the type found naturally in foods, while folic acid is the synthetic type. Biometics vitamin E is the natural vitamin, and comes from soybeans (denoted by “d-alpha tocopherol” versus “dl-” on the label). The calcium they use comes from limestone or salt mines. Biometics Melatonin (Bio Nite) is synthetic not only for product quality but because it is vegetarian. Natural sources of melatonin comes from pig’ brains.

If Biometics are the liquid supplements that you decide to go with for you or your child please contact Rae Ann Haynes. Her number is (850)650-8147 H and (850)259-4887 Cell. Her e-mail is hayneskr@cox.net I’m verrry adamant that you let Rae Ann get you started. Biometics is extremely powerful offering over 95% absorption within 15-30mins. Because of this you need to be careful when administering plus all ADD/ADHD are highly deficient in the B vitamins and minerals, which means once they work their way up to a full serving they will need mega dosages of Get-Go-N and Cal/Mag…..sometimes even Bio Alert. There is a lot of adjusting of the serving size until you find the proper amount for your body. So please please do not do this alone. Rae Ann also works with Frankie Pulley. Both know the difficulties of having a child with ADD/ADHD. Rae Ann son has ADD and is medication free. She has helped many adults and children with ADD/ADHD over the last 3 years. Frankie is her mentor and he has been helping families with ADD/ADHD for over 14 years. His son who once was on ADHD medication is now medication free. They are dynamitic together and their guidance will greatly benefit you. This is why I put them as contacts on my website. I consider them to be the best in the company when dealing with ADD/ADHD. They will both be able to answer many of your questions. Their follow up is consistent and always by phone. It’s not very often you find people who consult for free so please take advantage of their expertise.
