PART 2: “Dog Whisper” Showed Me Insight On Helping Other Parents With ADD/ADHD Children
29. September 2008 by Shirley.
This show is just a wonderful show for the family! Last Friday was Dog Whisper’s 100 episode. I can’t believe after all of these years of bad behavior from my maltese Fluffy, all along the answer I was seeking was already here. This show has been on for like 4 years! I love how Casear goes into the household and changes the owners way of thinking versus training the dog. Okay, I have already gone over in Part 1: Becoming the pack leader. Here’s the second point I want to cover:
2. Caesar says you must Discipline. You must establish rules, boundaries, and limitations!
It is important to understand that there is good discipline and there is punishment. Discipline is when you are in a calm assertive state of mind. Punishment is when you are in a fustrated angry state of mind. That’s why children do not listen. They do not respond to punishment, but they listen to discipline.
There is nothing wrong with harsh discipline or even a spanking when rules are broken, as long as you ARE NOT ANGRY when you are administering the disipline!! There should be no screaming or bad energy!! If you are angry, walk away until you have cooled off before you discipline. When a child does something wrong and you yell at them in anger, all they take away from that experience is the anger and not the lesson. Ask yourself when you were growing up, “What do you remember about your parents?” My dad is retired miltary. He was very strict on me growing up. I was basically raised by a drill sergent. All I remember, was hating everything he said, everything he did, and everything he stood for even though his lessons were to teach me to be polite, considerate, and to always give 100%. Because he was so harsh and controlling, he always left me in a negative state of mind. Even though he meant well, all I remember when looking back is being angry and wanting to do the exact opposite of whatever he said.
If you watch the Dog Whisper, you will see Caesar discipline in a firm consistent manner. He never yells or tries to over power these dogs. And when owners on the show try to use anger or fustration, their dog feeds off that energy causing them to become more aggressive. But the minute their owner takes responsibility for his/her old actions and changes into a leader who is confident, firm, and consistent, this forces everyone around them to adapt to their changes leaving their household in a heathy balance atmosphere.
Trust me I know it can be verrry difficult sometimes for ADD/ADHD parents. In fact it can be down right exhausting! This is why you must invest in personal and spiritual development. If you are fustrated and angry, who will keep the balance in your household? Ya know, it’s just as hard on ADD/ADHD children even though they act like they don’t care. They are constantly feeding off you so you always have to be calm and giving your best. Be consistent with your discipline so children are not confused from what you expect from them. Nothing is worst for a child then your inconsistency! When I ask Charlie, do you remember the time I tried to teach blah blah? He will say, “No not really but I remember you were pissed at me that day.” In fact he will tell you most of his childhood all he remembers was me yelling at him all the time, not WHY I was yelling or what I was trying to teach him.
Enthusiastically yours,

Great Organic Snacks for ADD/ADHD
27. September 2008 by Shirley.
Just because the snacks listed below are organic doesn’t mean you want to give this to your child everyday. I highly recommend pulling all sugar from your child’s diet for about a month. Afterwards you can introduce some of the snacks below. To completely cut out any treats or snacks creates lack and you are setting your child up to turn into a sugar junkie when he/she is around sweets or junk food. When you tell kids or even adults that they can’t have something, all it does is make them want it more. So what you really want to do is create abundance and excitement. Take your child to the health food store the next time you go. This is a great time to educate them in a fun setting. When children are included in the kitchen, this will encourage them to want to learn. When your trying to teach your children the importance of nutrition, it has to be short and to the point. Don’t start lecturing them or they will totally block you out. Show them how to identify the ingredients on the back of the label that are harmful to them. When we go to the grocery store together, Charlie reads every label before he puts his snacks or meals in the buggy. He helps me pick out what’s we’re going to cook for dinner during the week. When Charlie had his break down with sugar about 1 1/2 weeks ago, I realized that we had stopped cooking snacks together as a family. I’ve been so busy that I stopped taking him with me to pick out snacks or meals that he wanted to pack for lunch during the week. When Charlie participates with cooking and grocery shopping, he’s want to eat healthier. It keeps his mind sharp. But when I do all the decision making for his meals, it makes him bored and he gets away from wanting to be healthy again. Once a week you as a family should make organic bread, or a cake, or cookies, or brownies together. Again this is a great time to take a brief moment to educate children about nutrition. Now you will have a child that WANTS to eat healthy snacks and meals and not a child that is being forced. Since letting Charlie participate in selecting some of his healthy meals for the week, he’s back to being excited about eating healthy food again. He’s been telling his cross country team how tasty organic food can be versus all the trans, hydrogenated, and sugary junk food out there today. So he asked me if I would make his team some organic brownies and cookies. He was soooo excited when his team were fighting over these snacks. He was telling his coach how I put walnuts in it which is high in omegas and how I make it with coconut oil which is really good for you when your an athlete because it’s a good fat. The kids on his team asked him if they could come live with us so they could eat healthy meals and snacks like this everyday.
*My favorite fast and all natural easy bake Organic Cake, Brownie, and Chocolate Chip Cookies mixes are from Pamela’s Products. I get this at Winn Dixie but it’s sold in health food stores too. All of Pamela’s pre-mix batters are Wheat-Free, Gluten Free, and Non Dairy. These cookies and brownies are just fricking fabulous. I ALWAYS use coconut oil and Smart Butter. Even when her cookies call for 8 tbsp of Butter, I’ll put 4 tbsp organic coconut oil and 4 tbsp of Smart Butter. I’ll also like to add walnuts or almonds in these cookies too. Charlie just LOVES them. He asked me if I would make his cross country team organic brownies and chocolate chip cookies. It’s so cute, the coach tells all the time how he goes on and on about how regular cookies spike your glucose level, suppress the immune system, blah blah and if she tried these organic cookies she wouldn’t even touch regular cookies again.
*My favorite ice creams are:
1.Soy Dream (made from organic soybeans) Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Publix) *This product is so delicious that Charlie’s friends, my husband’s clients, and my friends can not believe it’s not ice cream.
2.Rice Dream Organic Cocoa Marble Fudge-Gluten Free (Heath Food Store)
3.Purely Decadent Dairy Free (Soy) Cookie Avalanche
4.Chocolate Tofutti Premium
*My Favorite Ice Cream Pops and Sandwiches:
1.Chocolate Fudge Pops Tofutti Treats
2.Tofutti Cuties vanilla ice cream sandwiches
*These two products are so yummy, you will not want ice cream again!
*My Favorite Chips and Treats:
1.Mr.Krispers Sea Salt & Pepper Baked Rice Krisps
2.Natural Tostitos Organic Blue Corn Chips (No preservatives, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors)
3.Eden Vegetable chips
4.Sun Chips Multigrain Original (Do not buy the flavor Sun chips b/c of artificial dyes, flavors, MSG, etc)
5.Robert’s America Gourmet Puffed White Cheddar Rice and Corn
6. Organic Clif Kid Z Bars- Chocolate Chip & Chocolate Brownie
*Homemade Bread:1.Bob’s Red Mill (Wheat Free, Dairy Free, & Gluten Free) Homemade Bread Mix*Still experimenting with bread, haven’t found my favorite yet.

How Much Biometics Get-Go-n Can Be Given To My Son For His ADHD In One Day?
25. September 2008 by Shirley.
Q: I have been taking the AM/PM program with my son for his ADHD for the last 2 weeks. How much of Biometics’ Get-Go-N can both of us take in one day? Right now he’s at 4 scoops and doing great in the mornings, but around 2-3pm he becomes restless and starts having problems focusing again. I’m only taking 2 scoops in my drink each morning. I do not have ADHD so can I take more through out the day or is 2 scoops enough?
Gina
A: Your son can take a total of 6-8 scoops of Get-go-n in one day but don’t do it all in one serving. It will depend on your son on the serving amount that he needs daily. You have to remember that ADD/ADHD are deficient in EVERYTHING plus whenever they are using their brains (strenuous mental activities) they burn through their B vitamins quickly! For ADD/ADHD, they only need 4 scoops in their AM drink. When Charlie first started on Biometics, he took 4 scoops in the morning, 1 scoop and 1/2 tbsp of Bio Alert at school (right before lunch), and 1-2 scoops when he got home from school. He was 11years old back then. Charlie is about to turn 15 years old in December. He only takes 4 scoop of Get-Go-N in the morning now. I always thought as he got bigger he would need more Get-go-n but as his body and brain chemistry started to become balance he really doesn’t need as much anymore. When Charlie was younger, he knew the minute he burned through his B vitamins and neurotransmitters. He would come to me and ask if he could have another scoop so he could focus on his homework. We kept his vitamins at the nurse’s office so he could stop by in between his classes. All of his teachers would allow him to go to the nurses office at Charlie’s request. It was never a problem or an issue that we kept Bio Alert and Get-Go-N at school. Charlie is in all advance honor classes. On some days he will burn through his vitamins quickly and on laid back days at school he doesn’t need more Get-Go-N. It all depends on him. But rarely does he take an extra serving of Bio Alert or Get-go-n unless he has multiple test to study for that night.Your fine at 2 scoops in your morning drink. But for the days you are active, stressed, or using your brain for strenuous mental activities, you too are burning through your vitamins quickly. So if you are having a busy day with paperwork or need to pull an all nighter to meet your dead line you can take another 1-2 scoops of Get-Go-N and 1/2 tbsp Bio Alert. Even if you are taking a road trip and you want to drive all night, Get-go-n is a great alternative instead of drinking coffee or Red Bull all night long so you can to stay up and be focus. You will find that when you wake up the next morning you do not feel all drugged like you would from drinking coffee all night long. Plus it’s so much better for you.
Tips:
1. Even if your child is ADD/ADHD, you should ALWAYS start at 1/2 or 1 scoop Get-Go-N and slowly build up to 4 scoops. Charlie could start instantly at 4 scoops but for other children/adults who have sensitive stomachs, you will have to slowly introduce this product into your system or you will end up with a tummy ache or diarrhea.
2. I wouldn’t take Get-go-n past 4pm or you might be Getty up and going with cleaning your house all night long. And when you are taking an extra serving of Get-Go-N, always start with a 1/2 scoop and build up to see what is the best serving size for your body. You may find that the extra serving of 1/2 scoop around 2 pm is all you need to have long lasting energy through out your entire day.
3. Make sure you drink plenty of water!!!!!
4. Don’t freak out if you turn red or get hot and itchy. This is a flush and it’s verrry good for you! Think of it as a cleansing, it’s your body’s way of ridding itself from toxins.
5. Bio Alert and Get-Go-n are great to take before participating in sports because they not only help with increase energy and focus but they also increase eye and hand coordination.

PART 1: “Dog Whisper” Showed Me Insight On Helping Other Parents With ADD/ADHD Children
22. September 2008 by Shirley.
I have a Maltese name Fluffy. She’s almost nine years old and about 1 month ago we were seriously considering giving her to one of our relatives. I mean we had her loaded up in the car taking her to her new home before I chicken out and said, “Let’s give her one last chance.” So we came home and I went straight to our Koi pond (a lot of prayer and contemplation goes on there). I ask God to point me in the right direction like he did with Charlie’s ADHD and again I promise that I will do the rest! I know we haven’t been good owners because we spoil Fluffy rotten and we do not discipline her consistently but she is my baby. After years of screaming and yelling at Charlie I wanted a pet that I could just spoil and not have to discipline. She was just soooo cute and loveable! Well from the moment we brought Fluffy home she was a nightmare but her behavior issues have gotten worse over the last 2 years. She tears into the trash even when we are home, She kills birds and squirrels in our yard, she pees in the living room when we are asleep at night, and she goes #1 and #2 right in the middle of our living room floor if we leave the house for more then hour. I tried locking her up in a kennel to punish her but she becomes worst when I eventually let her out. Anyway, last week I was waiting for my husband to get off the phone so we could go out to dinner. His call took a little longer then he expected so I sat down in front of our TV in the living room. There was a football game on so I started flipping through the channels. Normally, I NEVER flip through the channels. We have a TiVo. We record our favorite shows and watch them before bed. Other then that we never watch or have the TV on . Anyway, as fate should have it, I landed on the National Geographic Channel. For that entire day they had a Dog Whisper Marathon. I caught about 20 mins of one episode. Just listening and watching how Caesar handled these dogs with serious behavior issues was a wake up call for me. So I set my TiVo to record every episode. The next day I turned on my TiVo with my notebook and pen in hand. As I’m taking these notes, I’m realizing how his information doesn’t just apply to these dogs but to many parents I have dealt with in the past who have children with ADD/ADHD. Most of these episodes were Caesar training the owners not the dogs. So I wanted to go over 3 points that really resonated with me. For this blog, I’m only going to cover the first point. I will cover the other two points on my next blog entries.
1. Caesar says you must be the Pack Leader. Be dominate in a gentle but firm way to establish respect.
Wow, how many times have I had parents say to me, “Well, if I can talk her/him into taking these vitamins…..or she/he just flat out refuses to swallow a capsule, or my son thinks he is allergic to water, or she/he doesn’t want to get pricked for a blood test, etc. I can honestly tell you right now when my husband and I decided to go the natural remedy route for ADD/ADHD, Charlie did not have a choice! We told him, “This is the way it is! Cause your gonna take everything we give you….PERIOD!” Because we were firm and this issue wasn’t up for a debate, he knew we meant it. His fighting and whining really only lasted about 2 days. Children are going to protest in the beginning, it’s what they do. They test you and they try to see how far they can get until they have realized that they are not going to get their way. In the beginning we had to supervise Charlie in the morning or he wouldn’t drink all of his vitamins or he would take all morning drinking it. But fast forward to present day, Charlie gets up by himself every morning, makes his own vitamin drink, and takes ALL of his supplements. He even has a travel bag for his liquid and powdered vitamins and he also has a daily supplement dispenser that he takes with him when he goes on church retreats or spends the night with his friends. Parents tell me he’s like a little chemist mixing his vitamins before bed and in the morning. They ask me, “How in the world did you get him to do that??” It’s not easy and you as a parent will have to work at this everyday, “You say what you mean and you stick to what you say.” Making Charlie be accountable for the control over his ADD/ADHD not only has made him become so in tune with his body but he knows that he different if he skips his supplements for the day! My goal isn’t to force Charlie to take supplements while he’s under our roof but to create a habit and also to educate him so that he will continue this when he becomes an adult.
You are the parent! You and your spouse are BOTH the pack leaders, so you must take control of the situation if you want to purse natural remedies for ADD/ADHD with life lasting results. It’s strange that Chuck and I did this with Charlie and failed to do it with our dog Fluffy. We let her be the pack leader and we have been paying for that dearly! Children and pets are not meant to run your household!
Enthusiastically yours,
Shirley Highers

Ever Notice That ADHD Have Allergies, Asthma, Or Dry Skin?
20. September 2008 by Shirley.
Ever notice that ADHD usually have allergies, asthma, or dry skin?? Charlie had the worst dry skin….EVER!!!!! When you find a HIGH QUALITY Omega-3 supplement, you will notice results with your child’s skin within 6-8 weeks. Remember ADD/ADHD are deficient in their EPA & DHA levels so you might want to get a Fatty Acid Test done: http://www.forresthealth.com/store/home.php?cat=810 . This way you will have a starting point. Most kids with ADD/ADHD will need mega therapeutic dosage of omega-3. So make sure you consult with your doctor or your local health practitioners who should also be able to give you this test. If a doctor has no idea what your talking about, go find another doctor! I have researched that the recommend dosage for ADD/ADHD is 3000mg to 5000mg each day. I am not a doctor! This is something I have been researching in books, articles, and websites. Do not take my word on this, go research yourself and check with your doctor to make sure this is safe dosage for your child. Charlie takes Green lipped mussels which is a more concentrated form. Green lipped mussels also do not thin your blood. This can be a problem with taking mega doses of Omega-3. A OmegaXL capsules are only 100mg, but because it is so concentrated it’s like almost taking 1000mg. He took 3 capsules twice daily for about 2-3 months. He now currently takes 2-3 capsules one a day with his breakfast. He no longer has dry skin either. OmegaXL can get very pricey when you are taking this amount daily, so you might want to stick to a fish oil for now.
Since Charlie is doing so well on his Omega-3 supplements, I though I’d try a therapeutic dosage. I was taking 2 capsules a day and had notice my skin was becoming more smoother. About 6 weeks ago I increased it 2 capsules twice daily. Yesterday, I had my hair highlighted and cut. The same stylist that I have been going to for 8 years says to me, “Girl what are you putting in your hair?? It’s sooo soft!!!” I’ve been cooking with coconut oil for about 3-4 months now. So I’m not sure if this is from the oil or the omega or both. I’ve been touching my hair all day and I do have to admit it does feel pretty soft ;).
By the way here’s a GREAT study I thought you all would enjoy reading:
Omega-3 Fatty Acids & ADHD: Promising Evidence for a Nutritional Cure
“ADHD children also tend to have more allergies, eczema, asthma, headaches, stomachaches, ear infections and dry skin than non-ADHD youngsters,” note Donald Rudin, M.D. and Clara Felix, authors of Omega-3 Oils: A Practical Guide (Avery 1996). Both Rudin and Felix claim that these problems, including ADHD, are part of a modernization-disease syndrome, which arises from malnutrition centered on an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.
Their contention is supported by growing scientific evidence. The connection between omega-3 fatty acid deficiency and ADHD has been confirmed by studies in which youngsters with ADHD, when compared with non-ADHD children had much lower blood levels of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid necessary for normal function of the eyes and the cerebral cortex (the brain region that handles higher functions such as reasoning and memory).
Scientific Evidence
Two types of fatty acids are considered essential. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids cannot be synthesized in the body, and must be obtained from the diet. The omega-6 fatty acids are distributed evenly in most tissues and easily obtained through food sources commonly found in the American diet, but omega-3 fatty acids are concentrated in a few tissues including the brain. Because of their relative scarceness in the American diet, many children - perhaps the majority of children today - are deficient in omega-3 fatty acids. Learning specialists now believe omega-3 fatty acid deficiency leads to unique symptoms during childhood, including behavioral problems. The evidence is certainly suggestive:
- In 1981, researchers first hypothesized that children with ADHD may have reduced nutritional status of essential fatty acids because they showed greater thirst (a symptom of essential fatty acid deficiency) compared to children without ADHD.
- These results were further confirmed in 1983. When essential fatty acids were examined in 23 maladjusted children and 20 normal children, essential fatty acid blood levels in poorly behaved children were significantly lower.
- In 1987, researchers further documented that 48 children with ADHD reported significantly greater thirst, more frequent urination, and more health and learning problems than children without ADHD. Significantly lower levels of two omega-6 fatty acids and one omega-3 fatty acid (DHA) were found in the subjects with ADHD symptoms.
- In a 1995 study comparing plasma essential fatty acid levels in 53 boys with ADHD to a control group of 43 boys without ADHD, researchers found significantly lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids.
- In the April - May 1996 issue of Physiology & Behavior, Laura J. Stevens, of the Department of Foods and Nutrition, Purdue University, and co-investigators reported that boys with lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood showed more problems with behavior, learning, and health than those with higher levels of total omega-3 fatty acids.
- Also, in 1996, researchers from the Department of Psychiatry, Technical University, Faculty of Medicine, Trabzon, Turkey, reported that levels of free fatty acids as well as zinc were severalfold lower in ADHD children compared to non-ADHD children.
The Doctor’s Prescription
“We shouldn’t be prescribing medicine simply because that’s the easiest way to go,” notes Dr. Mark Stein, who runs a University of Chicago clinic for children and adults with the disorder. While all children with ADHD are not deficient in omega-3 fatty acids, we believe that the addition of omega-3 fatty acids to the diet may be important for some ADHD children.
In fact, studies show that children whose treatment program includes only medication, educational and psychological therapy continue to be at high risk for vandalism, petty crime, frequency of alcoholic intoxication, and possession of marijuana. Dietary improvements may be the KEY to fostering long-term health and acceptable behavior. Parents of ADHD children and ADHD adults who wish to utilize omega-3 fatty acids as a method of modifying their behavior should use both flax and seafood sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Flax provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), the master omega-3 fatty acid from which other omega-3 fatty acids are synthesized. Seafood provides DHA directly which appears to be a vital omega-3 fatty acid for modifying behavior of ADHD children and adults. The rate of conversion of ALA to DHA is quite low. However, alpha-linolenic acid may be important to behavioral improvements as well. Therefore, a combination of flax and seafood is best.
DHA is available in pill form and various formulas can be recommended by your health food store retailer. On the other hand, flax, which can be inconspicuously incorporated into children’s meals, holds many benefits. Flax can be used in baking (e.g., muffins and bread), salad dressings and in smoothies - as well as many other tasty dishes. Although many persons believe that flax is too fragile to be used as a cooking oil, “recent studies show little or no loss of [alpha-linolenic acid] when milled flaxseed is baked as an ingredient in muffins or breads,” says Felix.

You Should Only Use Two Types of Cooking Oils For ADD/ADHD
19. September 2008 by Shirley.
There should be only 2 oils in your kitchen; Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Pure Organic Extra Virgin Olive oil.
Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil is the BEST oil for cooking and frying. It’s your good saturated fat. It doesn’t become toxic or it doesn’t turn into trans fats when it is heated like other polyunsaturated fats (corn oil, safflower, sunflower, or canola oils).
Benefits Of Coconut Oil:
1. Contains the MOST saturated fat and is made up of short and medium chain oils that can help lower LDL cholesterol because they remove fatty plaques from your blood stream.
2. Also rebuilds and repairs damage nervous system (which is why it’s in formulas for premature infants).
3. Speeds up metabolism and can help you lose weight
4. Contains Lauric acid, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agent. This will help with killing yeast which is common in ADHD.
5. Supports healthy thyroid function
7. Helps with Digestive Problems
8. Helps with Hypoglycemic cravings
9. Can be used on skin and hair too
*If you do not like the coconut taste, purchase Spectrum Organic Coconut oil. I love the coconut flavoring especially on French Toast and on chicken!! Yummy! I use Nutiva and Garden Of Life Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. When purchasing coconut oil make sure it is organic and non-hydogenated.
Cold Pressed Pure Organic Extra Olive Oil is your monounsaturated fat and should be used for salad dressings, salad pasta, and cooking. It contains essential acids that cannot be produced by your body (oleic acid).Like coconut oil, olive oil is a stable oil used for cooking. It’s best to cook with low heat or no heat at all to really enjoy all the health benefits but its still one of the better oils to use when cooking.
Benefits of Extra Olive Oil
1. Helps control Blood sugar and cholesterol
2. Anti-inflammatory (helps with asthma, arthritis, etc)
3. Helps prevent belly fat
4. Contains Phenols that have antioxidant properties & prevent free radical damage
5. Improves Insulin sensitivity
6. Great for your Heart
7. Helps with Gastrointestinal problems (peptic ulcers, gastric cancer, chronic constipation)
8. Helps your liver and bile; helps cleanse out the gall bladder
9. Also helps assimilate your fat solube vitamins (A,D, & K)

ADD/ADHD Organic Breakfast Recipes
17. September 2008 by Shirley.
Scrambled eggs, Turkey Bacon, & French Toast
I select organic (no hormones, no antibiotics, cage free) eggs at Wal-Mart. He scrambles about about 3-4 eggs, sprinkles on top Garlic Pepper (McCormick- can purchase at Wal-Mart), and Lactose Free Veggie Shreds (Parmesan, Mozzarella, & Romano Flavor or Cheddar Flavor) on top of his eggs.
In a pan large enough to cook French Toast, I put one heaping tbsp of Organic Garden of Life or Nutiva Coconut oil (Sold at Health Food Stores) and let it melt. I toast one slice of bread from Nature’s Own Organic Honey Wheat Bread (No High Fructose Corn Syrup- can purchase at Wal-Mart). In a bowel large enough to put fit one slice of toast, I whip up 1 organic egg. Then I dunk both sides of the bread in the egg and lay in the pan. I pour the remaining egg on each side of the bread until done cooking. I dice up fruit (organic strawberries, bananas, mango, peaches– can purchase at Publix) and put on top of French Toast. I sprinkle 2 tbsp of Wal-nuts (high in Omegas and great for ADD/ADHD) on top of fruit. Then I pour 1 to 2 tbsp of Organic Maple B syrup over everything. Totally yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oatmeal, Turkey Sausage, & Scrambled eggs
I cook the eggs the same as up above. I select Organic Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar (can purchase at Publix). I mix 1 cup of Silk Vanilla Soy milk in the oatmeal. We always heat up in a pan and try our best to not use the microwave. We normally drink and use Rice Dream Vanilla Organic Rice Milk but if you use it in oatmeal it makes it very sticky and sweet. Charlie likes his oatmeal soup-like. I will sprinkle almonds or walnuts in his oatmeal to top it off. We don’t usually use butter can put 1/2 tbsp of Smart Balance (Non-Hydrogenated) Butter.
Omelet Sandwich, Turkey Bacon, & Organic Cheerios Cereal with Fruit
Mix in a large bowel 3-4 organic eggs. Pour about 1/2 to 2ozs (your choice) of Rice milk and beat together. In a large pan put one heaping tbsp of organic coconut oil. Toast 2 slices of organic honey wheat bread and butter (Smart Balance Butter) both sides of bread. Sometimes Charlie will put his bacon in the sandwich other times he eats it on the side. In his cereal he uses organic rice milk or almond milk (Blue Diamond Almond Breeze–can purchase at Publix, Wal-Mart, or Winn-Dixie) and organic fruit (blue berries, strawberries, bananas, or raspberries).
*Another great cereal choice is Organic or regular “Back To Nature,” and they have many different flavors to choose from. Some of Charlie’s favorite flavors are cinnamon and apple cereal.
Turkey Sausage Egg Casserole
8 slices of cubed Organic Nature’s Own honey Wheat Bread (Wal-Mart)
2 cups of Shredded Lactose Free Veggie Shreds Cheddar Flavor (Publix)
4 oz of fresh organic sliced mushrooms (Publix)
4 beaten organic eggs (Wal-Mart)
3/4 tsp Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard
3 cups of Soy, Rice, or Almond milk (your choice) We prefer Soy when we cook
1 can of organic cream of mustard soup (Winn Dixie, Publix, or Health Food Market)
1 to 1 1/2 lb of Turkey Sausage
Layer cubed bread, browned sausage, cheese, and mushrooms. Combine eggs, mustard, and 2 1/2 cup of milk. Pour over layers, cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight. When ready to bake, combine soup and 1/2 cup of milk. Pour over the casserole and bake @ 300 for 1 1/2 hours.
Biometics Chocolate Protein Shake with Peanut Butter & Toast
Toast 2 slices of Nature’s Own Organic Honey Wheat Bread and spread peanut butter on both slices. To make Charlie’s protein shake: In your blender or bullet mixer, empty one packet of Biometics Chocolate Pro Fit (17g protein). He mixes 8ozs of Rice Dream Organic Vanilla Milk and one large heaping scoop of MaraNatha all Organic Creamy Peanut Butter (Winn Dixie, Publix, Health Food Market) then blends together. Sometimes Charlie will add a banana or strawberries to his protein shake.
This protein shake is sooo fricking delicious and gentle on your tummy. Protein drinks can be hard to digest and usually isn’t recommend for kids. But because Biometics Pro Fit has a built in protein enzyme that helps break down everything–no bloating or farting
and is gentle on the kidneys, kids are able to drink this everyday. You may even get hooked. Charlie usually drinks his protein shake during the week when he’s in school. During the weekend he will eat his big breakfast meals. ADD/ADHD need 60-70% protein in their breakfast because it helps stabilize their blood sugars and 30-40% complex carbohydrates. These carbs are important versus simple carbs because they are high in fiber. This means your body must work to break complex carbs down into glucose. This is a slow process releasing glucose into the bloodstream providing a long lasting energy versus a sugar rush and crash leaving the brain foggy.
TIP # 1:
Watch out for cereals because they are the worst culprits. Most contain High Fructose Corn syrup and everything else!! Stick to organic and healthy cerals that do not have:
*artificial dyes, color, or flavors
*no pesticides or chemicals
*or ingredients you can not pronounce
TIP # 2:
*If you do not like coconut taste, buy Spectrum Organic Coconut oil (Publix).
*When selecting coconut oil try to buy Extra Virgin.
*Coconut oil is the only oil you should use to cook or fry with because it doesn’t become toxic or turns into trans fats when heated like other oils!!!!!! (Frying destroys antioxidants causing oils to oxidize)
*Must be organic coconut oil and Non-hydrogenated.
4. Is a Lauric acid, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agent. This will help with killing yeast which is common in ADHD.
5. Can use on skin and hair too.

ADD/ADHD Do Not Detoxify Well….Natural Remedies and Organic Meals Can Help!
16. September 2008 by Shirley.
How many of you have watched the movie “Supersize me?” Did you see towards the end of the movie when they put McDonald’s fries and hamburger in a separate glass dome along with FRESH ground hamburger and FRESH hand cut fries from a restaurant? If you have not seen this movie, go rent it at Blockbuster right now!!!!!!!! The fresh hamburger and fries decompose obviously because they are not kept in a refrigerator. BUT no decomposition from McDonald’s hamburger or French fries for over 6 weeks!!! What do you think happens to all of the artificial preservatives, dyes, and flavors in our bodies??? Do you have any idea how overworked our liver is trying to eliminate these chemicals?? Did you know our liver is a MAJOR organ that does over 500 functions?? Did you know that our liver influences our mood?? ADD/ADHD, which falls into the autistic spectrum already do not detox well. Almost all of them have heavy metal build up and food allergies. On top of this, most ADD/ADHD adults and children eat fast food weekly. When the liver can not process all of these chemicals at one time, it begins to store it in fat cells in the liver to process later. When the liver runs out of room to store the fat it starts releasing the fats into the body, the body therefore starts to create fat cells which leads to obesity. People say when they see someone over weight it’s due to a slow metabolism. Well, when I see a child or an adult over weight, I see an overload of toxins/poisons and a person with an acidic pH. I believe people hold their weight because they can not eliminate fat soluble toxins and poisons. A lot of these foods are acidic. The bodies defense to protect it’s organ from toxins and acids in the body, is to store them in your fat. Basically do a bowel cleanse, stop eating artificial preservatives, dyes, and flavors, and you will begin to lose weight.
A lot of these fast foods (dairy, red meat, refined sugars) cause constipation. If you are not having 2-3 regular bowels a day, the toxins from your bowels will re-absorb back into your body. You need a healthy strong liver to help neutralize these chemicals before it can be eliminated from the body. Your blood from the colon is fed directly to your liver. When your body has accumulated waste in the colon (large intestine), your blood now has to filter through these toxins and poisons. This causes dirty blood ( autointoxication) to circulate in the body and puts a burden on other major organs (lungs, kidneys, etc). Can you see where I’m going with this??? If this is what happens to regular people, how do you think it affects ADD/ADHD who as I already mention DO NOT detoxify well??
If you are an adults or parents with children that has ADD/ADHD, start pulling this junk from their diets!!! If you are an adult with ADD/ADHD do a colon cleanse and maximize your nutrition load with high quality supplements. I promise you will be DAZZLED at your results!! It’s amazing how the body can begin to heal itself if it is given the nutrients that it needs to function daily and is free of toxins and poisons. A clean body runs like a car that gets regular oil changes. Would you run your car 100,000 miles and never change the oil, never get a tune up, or check your tires??? In fact every 5000 miles you are suppose to get your oil change. If you do this for your car why wouldn’t you do this for your body??Enthusiastically yours,

Could You Please Tell Me How To Purchase The Supplements In Your E-book As A Natural Remedy For ADD/ADHD?
15. September 2008 by Shirley.
Q: Your e-book didn’t tell me what kind of vitamins and food you bought for your son. Do I have to order it? I’ve tried everything and he is still failing school. I’m weaning him off his medicine and trying a vitamin called sea essentials and taking away the sugar. Could you please tell me what else to do. Did you buy certain vitamins from a store - just tell me how you did it, I’m at my whits end and I love my son too much to see him like this.
Sheri
A: The vitamins I recommend are different from supplements on the market today. These guys are POWERFUL!!!!! Biometics has a patent process that allows your son to get 85-100% absorption. All of the fat soluble vitamins have been converted into water soluble so there is no toxin build up either. Plus I have recommend a program (Biometics AM/PM Program) and not just one type of supplement for ADD/ADHD. These children and adults are deficient in many of their vitamins, minerals, neurotransmitters, etc. So a mult-vitamin nor a B vitamin supplement are not enough for ADD/ADHD. They will need everything! The will even need mega doses on certain supplements from Biometics. You can not buy the vitamins at a store. You will have to purchase them on line. I have a WONDERFUL soul that you can contact at Biometics. She has gained control of her son’s ADD by using natural remedies. You will need to speak or e-mail her to make sure you give the right amount of vitamins to your son daily. There will be a lot of adjusting before you find what works for his body. She will help you through this.
Rae Ann’s e-mail: hayneskr@cox.net Her phone number (850) 650-8147 H and (850) 259-4887. This is what she does and she is terrific!!! She has helped many parent’s children and adults that have ADD/ADHD start this supplement regimen with positive results!
As far as diet, I have switched Charlie to everything organic. I have pulled everything from his diet that I have listed in my e-book (dairy, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, sodas, trans fat, hydrogenated oils, fried foods, etc). This week I will start posting easy organic recipes on my Blog so make sure you check it daily.
Enthusiastically yours,
Shirley Highers
